| Subject: Building A New Roster -- Updated. Please read. Wed Mar 05, 2008 10:09 pm | |
| [Thaag's note: Since our raid has evolved, much of the info in the first part was outdated. The rest needs to stay!] ~~ Important Update ~~ Several semi-hardcore raider friends of mine have formed their own casual raiding guild and are in the process of setting up a tentative roster of raiders. Most likely they will be attempting Serpentshrine Cavern and/or Tempest Keep within the next few weeks, or running some 10-mans to see if there are any cooperation issues. I will try to be a part of their selection process as much as I can and get an idea of the likelihood of running 25-mans.
Requirement: If you are interested in this chance for T5 content, go to http://be.imba.hu/ and look up your character. (You may need to select "Update from Armory") Please ensure that the blue bar is at least halfway through SSC/TK
You are presumed to have all raid consumables at hand and all your equipment gemmed and enchanted to the best of your ability.~~ End Update ~~ (The raid spazzes have been hidden since I'm sure it pisses people off by now. If you're having trouble being prepared for raids, you might wanna read it.)- Spoiler:
Disclaimer: This was not intended to put anyone down. I'm not trying to treat anyone like children. If you already know all of this, good for you. Humour me. I am a priest and a hunter. I claim no experience in leading hardcore raids, I don't know your class and I only wish to help make this run work. If you can do this better, be my guest - apply it. Anyone who wishes to participate in any Kara/ZA/TK/SSC/whatever run I set up is expected to reply to this so I will know where to find people. If you get new gear or respec or whatever, please update your reply to reflect that. *77
Gear Check: There is a week before this Kara takes off. If you can run 3 heroics and get a new item, do it. If you need to farm for an enchant, do it. If you have a heal button and a half decent heal set, bring it.
Preparation check: --> Gold There will be repairs. They will not be cheap. How much is your average yellow repair bill? Triple that. Can you afford it? If you can't, speak with someone to see if they can help you with that or find a way to make some gold.
--> Potions, Flasks, Elixirs What potions do you use? How many do you use for an average run? What flasks will help you the most?
--> Food What food gives you the food buff you need? What is your secondary buff food? Where does it come from? If you can't cook it, I probably can. Spend 10 minutes to farm up a stack or two and mail it to me, or put it in the guild bank.
--> Reagents / Soul Shards / Things your class needs How quickly do you go thru your reagents? If you carry three stacks of Sacred Candles, bring four. Plan ahead. Warlocks, farm your shards ahead of time.
--> Bandaids DPS can back off and bandaid themselves. Tanks can't. Bring a stack of Heavy Netherweave Bandages if you can use them.
--> Repair Bots, Jumper Cables, etc ... What else can you offer the raid?
Ground Rules: I don't know how <XYZ> guild you ran with does it, but this is what is expected. - Ventrilo silence Go ahead and chat while trash mobs are being pulled. If you can't chat and DPS/Tank/Heal at the same time, don't talk. If the raid wipes three times on Maiden because healers don't know who got Holy Fire'd due to chatterboxes on vent, you may be muted.
- Cooperation. It is not an option. If you're told to move, move. If everyone assumes that they have a little flexability, we will wipe. If you're already doing what you're supposed to be, good job. The raid leader may or may not be able to see you. Don't jump to spaz if you're being told to do something you're already doing.
- Repairs If your gear isn't red, you can keep going. If there is a 15m repair break, use it. Even if your gear is at 80%. There will be no exception for you half an hour later if you didn't repair when everyone else did.
- Breaks If you have a RL emergency, go ahead and deal with it. If you say "brb 10 min my pizza just got here", you may or may not be replaced. The other 9 people devoted their time to this. Plan ahead. If you feel you need a break, speak up so everyone knows when to meet back.
- Crap happens. Deal with it. Someone moved during Flame Wreaths and wiped the raid, resulting in another 10 minute run and 5 minutes of buffing. Healer spaced out and forgot to heal. DPS pulled aggro. The tank let a mob run by. Crap happens. Correct it, keep moving. Last thing we need is to spend another 10 minutes QQing about it when we could squeeze in another attempt.
- I didn't get [Whatever Gear] Chances are, they needed it more than you did. If giving them the upgrade will make the run go smoother, then there was no mistake. If you refuse to run because you didn't get dibs, then I probably wouldn't want someone with no team spirit to start with.
- I'm used to <XYZ> killing this boss like this ... Good for them. Go run with them if that's the only way you can kill the boss. This is the group we have. Roll with the punches.
- I forgot (stuff) can I get a port ... No. When invites go out, you're expected to have everything you need and you're on your way to Kara. If you think you might forget something, log on early and double check.
- You may be replaced or left out If a strategy doesn't work and we need to swap people around, don't QQ. All I want to do is get to the end of the instance, preferrably with everyone getting something. If one person refuses to step out for one or two bosses to get the other 9 people thru the bosses, don't expect an invite to another run. Similarily, if we must leave 4 people behind, next run I will do my best to include them. All it means is that the next run will go smoother because more people are getting comfortable with the encounters and people have better gear.
Remember: If you've read all the above and signed up, then you are assumed to abide by all of the rules. If you suddenly disapprove of a rule, you will be replaced. If there is no replacement or not enough people to have a workable group, then the raid will end, whether we downed six bosses or if we just zoned in.
When the time for first pull comes, all your buffs should be up, you are not PvP flagged and there should be no QQ about forgetting things. If you need someone to get you something (ie: buff food) list it under Additional Notes and hopefully someone can help. Having everyone fully buffed is like having an extra DPS in the group.
There are no handouts Farm what you need. If you can't get what you need, farm some primals for someone to sell, then get what you need. Contribute whatever you can to the guild bank. If there is enough to go around, then it will be arranged. If you have no time, even if you stop levelling your alt, then you might need to sit out a raid or two until you are prepared.
If you think you messed up somewhere, speak up. If you're unsure, speak up. Discussing an uncertainty will take maybe 10 minutes. Wiping, running back and rebuffing for another shot will probably take 20 minutes or more. Save those extra 7 minutes for each boss and there might be more epics to go around.
<< EDIT: I'm asking for what consumables you normally use because I want to get as much DPS together as we can, and so we know what we might want to bring if we have some leftover bag space. If raid morale runs high and we extend it for another half hour or by a full hour, raiders may find themselves without flasks / elixirs / buff food, which can total more than say ... 800 DPS plus whatever other bonuses they could normally get. Factor that DPS into say, a 7 minute boss fight. It *will* make a difference. If people knew there is a high demand for basilisk, a collective guild effort to donate whatever they come across can easily fill the bank with enough food to last thru a month of raiding. If you don't tell us, there isn't much we can do when raid time comes and you can't find any [Buff Stuff] on AH. >>

Class/Spec: 70 Warlock: 41 Affliction, 5 Demonology, 15 Destruction
Spell Damage: 1013 Self Buffed, around 1300 fully raid buffed
Pots: I bring about 10 health and mana pots per raid. I allways leave with leftovers. Flask of pure death. Wizard oil.
Food: Blackened Basilisk, Stam food if needed for certin fights.
Professions (skill level): Tailoring (375) Enchanting (336) Secondary professions are na to me as I have not leveled them.
Days Avaliable: I am open to most days and nights exept for saturdays after 5, I.E. if a run starts at 12 in the afternoon I could make it, after that then it's a no. Sundays I work from 12-10pm. I have school in the mornings most days but that has not meesed with my raiding so far and I doubt it will be a big problem in the future.
Items I will not be posting all the items from said raids that may be an upgrade as they range from raid to raid. I need maybe 2 items for Kara, and for the rest of the raids just look to see if I'm rolling for caster gear.
Side Note: While not leading the raids, Katiji, Dorchadas, and myself have all been trying to help Tomoe out with getting everything set up as much as we can. We look forward to bringing Caffeine members if possible. But I will say this now! Your attitude gets checked at the door. Tomoe has laid the rules out and I will make sure that they are followed, if you, a member from Caffeine gets in. I try to be level headed and un-biased when it comes to the guild and guild relations, but this is not a guild run and if any of the above rules are broken then exept a quick resolve to happen. Does that mean you are asked to change something, more then likely. Does it mean you get kicked from the raid, if thats what it takes then yes! I am not trying to be harsh about the matter at hand, and trust me while pulling trash or at a break I'll joke and laugh with all of you. But I need to make this clear, so that when it comes time to raid we all go in with our minds in the right place.

| Name, Class, Spec : Kohelani*77, Hunter, Beast Mastery (41/20/0) Armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Argent%20Dawn&n=KohelaniHeal/Damage bonus: Crit is 27.34%; however Crit can increase to around 35-ish while using the Darkmoon Card: Wrath trinket. I've seen crits between 830ish to over 1200. Hit Rating is 126 before buffs. With Spicy Hot Talbuk it's maxed at 146. I use Omen, but no damage meter, so I don't know my DPS exactly; however last I was in Kara I was hitting for 800+. *You should put me in a high DPS group as my main benefit to the raid is Ferocious Inspiration which increases all party's damage by 3%; it scales with DPS; and affects melee, ranged and spell damage. It also stacks, so if there's another BM hunter in the raid.. Pots: Will bring my own. Don't usually have a pressing need for mana pots, so can share if necessary. Food: I can provide anything anyone might like. Will bring Warp Burgers, Spicy Hot Talbuk, and Kibler's Bits for myself. Professions (skill level): Leather (Dragonscale): 375 First Aid: 375 Cooking: 375 Fishing: 308 Additional Notes / Days Avaliable / Raids You Want / Things You Need: Monday - Thursday: 4:30 PM - 10:30 PM Friday: 4:30 PM - whenever Avail 3 out 4 weekends every month Kara: Legacy, Steelhawk Crossbow, Saberclaw Talisman, Drape of the Dark Reavers, Garona's Signet Ring ZA: Coif of the Jungle, Pauldrons of Primal Fury

| I am adding my name to the pool although I am to be considered as a backup rogue only. My work schedule would make it unfair to be part of the regular raid.
Name, Class, Spec : Thaag, Rogue, Subtlety (shadowstep)
Heal/Damage bonus: The Night Blade main hand/Dirge off hand (switched during ambush). Usually use Anesthetic poison under the theory that a dead rogue puts out 0 dps.
Pots: Healy pot (10) Haste pot (lots)
Flasks/Elixirs: Relentless Assault Major agility (if there is no flask) Major Troll's Blood (Yes I know this requires you raided ZG so yes I'm not holding my breath)
Food: Warp burgers/Grilled Mudfish if not available, Ravager Dogs.
Professions (skill level): Mining (375) Engineering (369) Cooking (375) Fishing (375) First Aid (375)
Additional Notes / Days Avaliable / Raids You Want / Things You Need:
I *usually* have tuesdays and saturdays off, but with my boss being what she is (no direct comment) this can change on her whim. I'm working to change jobs ASAP anyway. This is why I can only offer myself as a back up. Right now I'm grateful to get anything rogueworthy from anywhere but if we have a more regular raiding rogue/kitty druid who wants, I'm not going to fight them or pull GL rank or anything like that.

| Tackle. 70 Orc Hunter 41/20/0 BM Spec I always come prepared. Pots elixirs drums etc Damage wise, Haven't had a chance to raid 25 man on this guy since respec, however, based on my experience i estimate 900 dps average peaking to 1050. More if i get in the right group makeup. But I'm a hunter, I takes what i gets 375 LW, Skinning, Cooking and First Aid. Raid Times. Being Aussie my only times really are fri and sat nights 5:30pm which translate to sat and sun mornings. | |
